Hilton Alves is an artist known for his environmental art that focuses on ocean conservation. His recent project, titled "The Wave of Consumption," features a mural painted in Kahuku, Hawaii, which illustrates ocean pollution by incorporating plastic waste collected from beach cleanups.

This mural depicts a wave over a coral reef, using trash such as plastic bags and wrappers to convey a message about the impact of pollution on marine environments.

In addition to this mural, Alves has initiated the PLASTIC OCEAN Art Project, which includes a series of original paintings created with actual plastic and trash collected during beach cleanups. This project aims to raise awareness about ocean pollution and inspire community action towards preserving aquatic ecosystems

Goals and Projects

  1. Environmental Awareness: Alves aims to inspire a deeper connection between people and the ocean, encouraging them to advocate for environmental preservation. His art serves as a reminder of nature's beauty and the importance of protecting it.

  2. 101 Perfect Waves Project: This international mural initiative, started in 2013, seeks to create 101 wave murals around the world. The project not only highlights the beauty of waves but also aims to engage communities in discussions about ocean conservation.

  3. Community Engagement: Alves actively involves local communities and students in his projects, fostering a collaborative spirit and raising awareness about environmental issues through art. His murals are designed to be educational tools that inspire appreciation for the planet.

  4. Art Exhibitions: Hilton plans to displays these works of art in museums and art galleries around the world.​
